HELLO, I'M

Suraj Mundhada.

Software engineering / Applied AI

I'm a final-year Computer Engineering student at VIT Pune. I build full-stack applications and explore how AI can make them more useful.

Currently, I'm researching medical speech recognition and building with Java, React, and Python. Along the way, I'm sharpening my problem-solving skills, one DSA problem at a time.

CliniQ+

Turning doctor-patient conversations into structured clinical documentation, with speech recognition and retrieval-augmented generation.

Next.jsDeepgramLangChainQdrant
Inside the project

Streams audio through Deepgram WebSockets, retrieves context with BGE embeddings and Qdrant, and uses Llama 3 via Groq to extract structured EMR fields.

My focus: the speech-to-EMR workflow and RAG pipeline. Built with React, TypeScript, and MongoDB.

Research & experience

Research Intern · Speech & NLP

Jul 2026 — Present

Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune

Adapting Whisper for medical speech recognition, with a focus on Indian-English clinical speech and preserving medical entities.

What I'm working on
  • Benchmarking LoRA/PEFT adaptation against zero-shot and full fine-tuning baselines on the MultiMed English corpus.
  • Evaluating WER, CER, and medical-entity preservation on an unseen Indian-English clinical dataset.
  • Converting transcripts into EMR-ready drafts for physician review.
